On January 17, 2007, Erik Harbison and Jason Weidner, GSI Commerces's interactive marketing directors, will be discussing the relationship between SEO and Usability.

SEO & Usability – Do These Three Things…

The presentation will cover the most opportunistic areas that can greatly affect the successful marriage between SEO and Usability.  We'll answer the what, when, how, and why?  Do these three things (plus additional pointers), and any website will have the greatest chance for holistic success in SEO and Usability. In addition, best practices, case studies and examples will be shared.

Additional topics of discussion will be:
  • How do we match the SEO optimization and usability/experience design?
  • How is SEO similar and/or different compared to usability/information architecture?
  • When does SEO start - before or after usability/information architecture?

About the Presenters:

Erik Harbison
Director, Interactive Marketing, GSI Commerce

Erik has recently accepted a new position as Interactive Marketing Director at GSI Commerce.

Prior to joining GSI Commerce, Erik served as performance marketing director at Refinery. He managed and provided strategic focus for Refinery Search clients to ensure performance marketing initiatives achieve business goals. In addition, Erik was the director of media and vice president for directMASS, where he was responsible for the research, strategic development, implementation, optimization and management of client search engine marketing campaigns. Erik also held key leadership roles at 360i, where he was media director. His experience includes paid placement, organic optimization, paid inclusion, affiliates and performance banner networks.

Jason Weidner

Jason has recently accepted a new position as Interactive Marketing Director at GSI Commerce.

Prior to joining GSI Commerce, Jason served as performance marketing director at Refinery. He managed and provided strategic focus for Refinery Search clients to ensure clients' sites achieve high visibility within search engines, while achieving optimal return on interactive initiatives. In addition, Jason was vice president, director of client services and co-founder of directMASS. At directMASS, he oversaw the management of client expectations, as well as all stages of campaign management, including pre-campaign planning, launch, maintenance and campaign reporting. Jason also held leadership roles with Insight Interactive Group, where he was media supervisor and search engine strategist.
